Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
The Top Hat Chimney Guarantee
Here’s the short version: if Wendell’s crew does the work and it isn’t right, one phone call brings us back. That’s been the rule since 1999, and it’s printed on every job ticket we leave in Stamford. No fine print about “normal wear.” No argument about whether the creosote came back too soon. If we swept the flue, installed the liner, or rebuilt the crown and something’s not holding up the way it should within 90 days, we fix it on our dime. Wendell Pike puts his name on the work because he runs into you again on Saturday at the grocery store. He’d rather shake your hand than avoid your eye.
What’s Covered
- Workmanship on every job, for 90 days. The 90-Day Done Right Promise covers the labor we perform from the moment we pack up the truck.
- Parts handling and installation. If we installed a cap, crown, liner, or fireplace component and it fails because of how it was put in, we make it right at no additional cost.
- Cleanup before we leave. The area around your hearth and roof access point is left as clean as we found it, drop cloths down and vacuums running.
- On-time arrival with a real window. You get an actual arrival window, and if something slips, the phone rings before you have to wonder.
- Honest pricing before any work starts. The number you hear on the phone is the number on the invoice. No surprises after the fact.
- Camera-verified findings. If we tell you the liner needs attention, you’ll see the footage yourself. Nothing gets recommended without visual proof you can review.
Our Satisfaction Promise
If you’re not satisfied with the work, you call us and say so. That’s the whole process. No forms, no escalation phone tree, no waiting on hold through a call center. You’ll get a live person, around the clock, and quite possibly Wendell himself. We’ll come back, look at the job together, and make it right. If we missed a spot during a sweep, we’ll re-sweep. If a repair isn’t holding, we’ll redo it. The guarantee is in writing on every job ticket, and we mean it literally: done right, or made right, inside 90 days. Stamford homeowners have been holding us to that standard for over 29 years. Plenty of them have our number saved, not because something went wrong, but because they know it’s the fastest way to get a straight answer about their chimney.
Licensed & Insured Backing
A handshake is good. Paperwork is better. Top Hat Chimney is state-licensed and carries insurance and bonding, which means the guarantee isn’t just a promise from a guy in a truck. It’s a legal and financial commitment. If something unexpected happens on a job, you’re covered. If the work doesn’t hold up, the same crew that did it comes back. Licensing means state oversight and accountability. Insurance means your home and our crew are protected while we’re on your roof or in your firebox. Together, they back up the 90-Day Done Right Promise with something stronger than good intentions. Ask anyone on your street who’s used us. Then ask to see our credentials when we arrive. We expect the question.
What You Should Know Before You Call
Does the guarantee cover manufacturer defects?
Manufacturer warranties on products like DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield run separately from our labor guarantee. When we install a product, we’ll tell you what the manufacturer covers and for how long, and we’ll handle the claim paperwork if something fails. Our 90-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation work itself, which is where most problems actually begin. Call (475) 242-5865 and we’ll walk you through what’s covered on your specific job before any work starts.
What if I notice a problem on day 89?
Call (475) 242-5865 that same day. The 90-Day Done Right Promise runs from the day we finish the job, and we track it ourselves. Even if you’re past the window by a few days, call anyway. Wendell would rather hear from you and see the issue than have you sit on it through burning season.
Does the guarantee transfer if I sell my Stamford home?
It does not. The warranty is tied to the homeowner who hired us. If you’re selling, we’re happy to do a pre-sale chimney inspection so the new owners know exactly what they’re buying. Many Stamford real estate agents recommend it for homes with older chimneys.
